At New Leaf Recreational Therapy, we provide individualized recreational therapy services for children and youth with a wide range of needs. Services are designed to support each child’s goals through structured, engaging, and meaningful activities in the recreation center, community, or home setting. We work closely with families, case managers, and support teams to create positive experiences that promote growth, independence, and confidence.
Below are some of the populations we commonly work with.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
We work with children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder to help build social skills, emotional regulation, communication, and confidence. Recreational therapy activities are adapted to meet each child’s needs while providing a supportive and structured environment.
Behavioral Conditions
Children with behavioral challenges such as ODD, PTSD, adjustment disorder and more may benefit from recreational therapy that focuses on self-control, coping skills, and positive decision-making. Sessions help children practice appropriate behavior, manage frustration, and develop healthier ways to respond to different situations.
Mental Health Conditions
Recreational therapy can support children experiencing anxiety, depression, mood difficulties, or other mental health concerns. Activities are designed to reduce stress, improve self-esteem, and provide positive outlets for emotions while building confidence and resilience.
Developmental Disabilities
We provide services for children with developmental disabilities such as intellectual disabilities, Down Syndrome, ASD and others who may need support with social skills, independence, communication, or daily living skills. Sessions are individualized to help each child progress at their own pace while enjoying meaningful activities.
Attention Disorders
Children with attention-related challenges like ADD and ADHD may benefit from structured, engaging sessions that help improve focus, patience, and self-regulation. Recreational therapy activities provide opportunities to practice following directions, staying on task, and managing energy in a positive way.
Physical Disabilities
Recreational therapy can be adapted to support children with physical disabilities by focusing on movement, coordination, strength, and participation in activities at their own ability level. Our goal is to help every child feel successful, included, and confident while staying active and engaged.
