Recreational Therapy

Recreational therapy, also known as therapeutic recreation, is a healthcare profession that uses purposeful leisure activities to support a person’s physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being. Through activities such as sports, creative arts, games, and community outings, recreational therapists help individuals build skills, regain independence, reduce stress, and improve overall quality of life. The focus is on helping people participate more fully in life despite illness, injury, or disability.

Community Based Recreational Therapy

Community-based recreational therapy is an individualized, goal-oriented intervention that uses leisure activities, adaptive sports, and community-based, real-world experiences to improve the physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being of individuals with illnesses or disabilities. It focuses on fostering independence, community reintegration, and reducing isolation by working in the client’s own environment, rather than a clinical setting.
